Our Future
Long term, we would love to expand The Sharing Shack to the East Side of Glacier National Park and eventually, other National Parks across the country.
How It All Started
The Sharing Shack was first started in June of 2021, after the passing of Glacier National Park’s local ambassador, Mia Totten. Mia loved to spend her time in the park, especially kayaking. It wasn’t uncommon to see her there every day! She loved to connect with fellow travelers and share her knowledge, time and resources with others who wanted to experience the Park.
Many of those who knew Mia personally would tell you about her radical generosity and love for Glacier Park. You can read more about her and her story in a special article done by our local paper (read it here). She would often tell folks to stop by her place and grab a kayak if they wanted, as long as they returned it afterwards. A common offering that led to the start of The Sharing Shack.
Her spirit lives on in every person who visits The Sharing Shack and donates/volunteers to keep it going. It is a place to honor her memory and her generosity to all who want to experience the beauty of The Crown of the Continent.

The Sharing Shack is considering an expansion beyond the state of Montana. Due to our program being fully operated upon donations and volunteers, we would need enough interest to do so.
